UMNO Is Very Much Alive, Well And Kicking

Hantu Laut

Somebody broached the idea of turning BN into a single party. Smart idea for the losers, but not good for UMNO. With such excellent bill of health who need losers.

The idea was first mooted by Gerakan acting president Chang Ko Yuon, not surprising because Gerakan is done, kaput!...... so is MCA and MIC.

It wasn't UMNO that suffered serious erosion of supports. On the contrary, UMNO fared much better this time around than in the 12th GE.UMNO delivered 109 seats out of the total of 133 won by BN. At  state level it won 244 out of 339 seats it contested.

UMNO is alive, well and kicking. This stallion had run the gauntlet and proved the doomsayers wrong. It is BN, particularly, MCA and Gerakan that is in trouble, not UMNO.

Here, two Melayu bodoh organisations, KPRU and Umcedel predicted unmitigated disaster for UMNO at 13th GE. They either have lost their mojo, or just pretty useless at what they do.

Communal politics will continue to stay the favoured political domination in this country. A true multiracial party is still a far cry. The Malays don't want it, the Chinese don't want it even more, the Indians don't want it and Sabah and Sarawak natives don't want it.

The minority races, particularly, Chinese will not be receptive to the idea because a single political entity will overwhelm and dilute their political power and may jeopardise the language and culture in the long term.

Try ask DAP and PAS to dissolve their parties and join PKR as a single umbrella, I bet my bottom dollar the first to object would be the apparatchiks,  Lim Kit Siang, Lim Guan Eng and Karpal Singh. PAS leaders will tell you "Kami orang Islam tak boleh campur orang kafir"

I am surprised that Tengku Adnan Mansor entertained the idea of a single party when UMNO is physically and political robust and had not lost its appeal to the Malay masses. It has done extremely well in the 13th GE capturing substantial Malay votes as compared to PKR and PAS. These two Malay based parties are straggling far behind with PAS getting 20 parliamentary seats and PKR 15 Malay dominated seats. Both parties would not have gathered that number of seats without help of DAP supporters.

It was MCA, Gerakan and MIC that have been consigned to the rubbish bin. Other components in Sabah and Sarawak were still able to defend their territories with minimal losses.

I am not a member of UMNO, but I can safely say it won't happen. UMNO is very much alive, well and kicking.

Makes more sense that MCA, Gerakan and MIC should consider converting to a single party.

Word Of Honour Need No Pen Nor Paper

Hantu Laut

Honour is the quality of knowing and doing what is morally right. A man who is confident of his word of honour need not put it down to pen and paper.

"Word of honour"...a verbal commitment by a person to another agreeing to do, or not to do something in the future. In simple language it is called "gentlemen's agreement", relies on honour for its fulfilment.

A man who is a modal of rectitude and sure of his honesty will not bother with a written covenant. Only in business such written instrument is necessary.

Najib needs not sign such agreement as I am pretty sure Jusuf Jalla who had experience in brokering such deal before had called for a gentlemen's agreement, not a written one.

Being a businessman before, I have seen fair share of broken contracts by clients, who cared not about reputation when they have made a bad decision.

Written contract is no guarantee of performance, it just give you comfort and something to fall back to if you need to take action to enforce it.What legal action can he takes if Najib signed and broke the agreement. Does he not know that word of honour if can be proven can also seek justice in the court of law?

Anwar knew but need a bad story to tell his followers.

If one is of crooked mind no amount of written agreement is good enough protection. Cooked and crooked excuses can be used to break it.

Throughout our adult life many of us have had bets, lent or borrowed money from friends based on word of honour. Mutual trust bind us to honour our promise and pay back what we owe.

The excuse given by Anwar for not honouring his side of the deal  lack plausibility and atrociously shameful.

Let us look at number one of his demand of "no personal attack"

In all honesty, he has actually implicated himself, his party and the whole Pakatan Rakyat outfit guilty of this. There are thousands of evidences on the Internet to prove that he and his soldiers are more guilty of this than Najib and his battalions. The attack on Najib was vicious and uncalled for. All the blogs and news portal friendly to Anwar have done pretty good job demonising Najib. Malaysiakini, Malaysia Insider, Free Malaysia Today, Malaysia Chronicle and many others are pro-Anwar and Pakatan.

Of course, it goes without saying he will say he has no control over these people. Najib can also claim he has no control over the mass media in this country.

Anwar and Pakatan are not interested in the print and mass media, that was just a cooked excuse. They have access to bigger and more effective media.

The Internet has humongous penetration compared to the mainstream mass media. Almost 60% of the country are wired to the Internet and 80% of urban dwellers have access to the alternative media. That's why they won big in the urban areas and lost in the kampongs. He is only interested to show off in the cities and big towns, as Daim Zainuddin aptly described a "clown in  a circus". His political campaigning was skewed, favouring the urban areas. His megalomania and exhibitionist nature made him lose the elections.

Number two "free and fair elections". If the elections had not been free and fair how come Pakatan Rakyat can get more popular votes than Barisan Nasional?

He used this another crooked excuse to say that he should have won Puterajaya because of popular votes, but was cheated by BN. He was not truthful to tell his followers that our electoral system is such that you can get more popular votes but still not get enough parliamentary seats to form the government, the same as  those practised in U.K and many other Commonwealth countries.

His design to question and ridicule the electoral roll as being dirty was done long before polling day using BERSIH as his vehicle and street demonstrations as his dirty trick to hoodwink the people that all is not well with the Election Commission. In U.K the Labour Party ever had just over 30% of the popular votes, but collected over 50% of the seats, worse than what we had in the recent elections where the difference was only 3.4 % and Anwar claimed victory based on this absolute nonsense.

In spite of his accusations of massive vote rigging he came so close to taking over the government but bungled it because of over confidence, arrogance and stupidity.

Anyway, it was Anwar who asked Jusuf to broker the deal and it was Jusuf Kalla who first broke the story to WSJ, not Najib. Why didn't he whack Jusuf Jalla instead?

Why Anwar wanted the deal with Najib?

Because he was so over confidence of winning, he was afraid that Najib may not concede and give way to smooth transition of power.

Najib was sure of himself and knew, win or lose, he would honour the agreement.

Anwar biggest problem is, he can't tell the difference between a lie and the truth.

Today, he is a desperate man seeking justice on the streets.

The Government Is Afraid, Very Very Afraid !

Hantu Laut

The government is afraid and dare not take action against these provocateurs instigated by Anwar Ibrahim.

They can now do anything they like, they want to go on the streets to create bigger chaos and violence.

A day before polling, I wrote this piece "Is Malaysia Heading For Trouble"

Well, I hope the Home Minister acts accordingly if these asses go to the streets.

The government is afraid… the slightest provocation by the police could set the nation on fire and that is why you don’t see the FRU and water cannons.
“The people are angry [over the alleged election fraud]… So testing their patience would not be wise and BN knows this,” said Kevin Thanaraj, a 28-year-old chemical engineer.
His friend, Darren Teoh, argued that the rallies were getting tiresome and wanted the opposition to take more drastic measures.
“Yes, the people are angry. But the opposition cannot expect us to keep attending rallies, sing songs and hear the same things over and over again for the next five years,” said the 34-year-old businessman.
Asked what he would propose, Teoh, without the slightest hesitation, replied: “The time has come to take these protests out of the fields and stadiums… It is time to take them to the streets.”
Overhearing the conversation, law student Hafiz Iskandar, 23, cited the famous phrase, “Bila tipu pilihanraya, kita turun jalanraya [When there is cheating in the polls, we must take to the streets].”
“I have attended four rallies so far, and I am tired of blowing the vuvuzela, my mouth hurts. This is not a fun-fair… It is a serious issue and serious action must be taken,” he stressed. Read more

Anwar is not going to stop until this country goes up in flame.

Get Rid Of Azmin Ali Campaign Has Started

Hantu Laut

This will be denied by PKR people, but it will come.

There will be a leadership tussle in PKR between Azmin Ali and Anwar Ibrahim.

Barring, anything happening between now and the party elections, Azmin will mount a challenge for presidency of PKR that will draw Anwar out of his comfortable sanctum of de facto leadership to defend and keep the position within the family. He or his daughter will rise to the challenge.

Azmin is favoured by the youths and those who sees Anwar as becoming a liability to the party. If Najib is said to carry too much excess baggage, likewise, Anwar suffers the same perception in his own party, but his powerful grip on the party have kept the opposition at bay.

The failure of Anwar to capture Putrajaya have changed the political sentiment in PKR and his uncultivated refusal to accept the results of the elections peeved some top PKR leaders, particularly, Azmin Ali.

Azmin has also fired the first salvo against party president Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, wife of Anwar, on the autocratic way she announced the appointment of Khalid Ibrahim as MB without any consultation with other senior party leaders. There is silent requited enmity between the two.

Azmin, is now tolling the middle road objecting to the recurring political rallies organised by PR at the behest of Anwar. He has asked the party to stand down and accept the results of the elections. PKR don't need Anwar as much as it used to do and Azmin knew the weakening influence of Anwar in PKR is going to benefit him.

Anwar, is the glue that kept the coalition together, but he is also a thorn in the flesh of some PAS leaders, who don't trust him but knew without him the coalition days are numbered,  unwillingly and unwittingly tolerated his leadership.

It will be a tight race and Azmin might just pull through by the skin of his teeth.

Some party members have asked for action to be taken against Azmin.

Would Anwar dare to upset the applecart?

It is Anwar's style "If you are not with me, you are against me". The same he has done to his friends and close aides in the past, he would do to Azmin.

Anwar's covert campaign to get rid of Azmin Ali has started.

.....but this time he will meet his match!

Opinion Polls Are Unreliable In Malaysia - EIU

It is always the foreign press who knows better and makes better and more accurate predictions of this country political and economic situation compared to any of our so-called political pundits and opinion polls gizmos.

I have, from time to time, expressed doubts on the capability of our so-called political pundits and opinion polls in making sound and correct predictions of the actual political and economic situations in the country.

The Merdeka Centre, who proudly claimed they are the best in the country is one of the worst from among bottom of the barrel hot shits.

To add insult to injury, they do bear shit in the woods of their shoddy masterpiece. Almost none have come close. Most predicted a neck to neck race or PR winning the elections.

Only the idiot savants have predicted correctly that the BN will win without two-thirds majority.

When you mix emotion with realty you can never get sensible results and many of our local pundits are guided by which side they support and the end result would reflect more of their personal adherence rather than their professionalism.

The EIU, which I believe not many Malaysians read, may not be on target always, but more often than not are closest to the truth than many other publications.

Read what they predicted, before and after GE13.

Before: On 3rd May 2013

Opinion polls are unreliable in Malaysia. The latest poll from the University of Malaya's Centre for Democracy and Elections puts Mr Anwar ahead.

On balance, we still believe that the BN will win the election. Incumbency will give it a slight advantage over the PR. Although its gradual programme of reforming affirmative-action policies has upset more conservative elements of the ethnic-Malay population, these elements are unlikely to vote for the opposition in protest. So long as this vote bank holds and the BN is able to secure Sabah and Sarawak, it has a good chance of extending its tenure.

After: On 7th May 2013

The PR faces a bleak five years until the next election, unless it actively engages in persuading enough BN members of parliament to switch sides and launch a no-confidence motion against the government. Mr Anwar has repeatedly said that he would step down if he failed to steer the PR to election victory, a promise he might now be forced to make good on. Not only is Mr Anwar a charismatic leader, but he is also regarded as the glue that holds an ideologically diverse group together. In the absence of an obvious successor to the opposition leader, a leadership contest could presage the demise of the PR. The predominantly ethnic-Chinese Democratic Action Party (DAP) has become the largest political group within the three-party PR, but the DAP is reluctant to assert leadership in order to avoid ethnic strife. Its opposition to Islamic law is regularly expressed and antagonises its Islamic coalition partner, Parti Islam se-Malaysia (PAS). The PAS is likely to become more receptive to UMNO enticements to share power and unite under the banner of ethnicity and religion, especially after the recent retirement of its elderly, spiritual leader, Nik Aziz Mat.

The Shittiest Pot Calling The Kettle Black

Hantu Laut

What national reconciliation if Anwar Ibrahim and the opposition Pakatan Rakyat (PR) continue to organise big rallies to try topple the government?

I can understand Anwar going to the streets because he is a very frustrated man, he came from the streets and that's where he goes back to when he is unhappy, but why are DAP and PAS leaders, whom I consider more rational colluded with him to destabilise the country?

Seriously, all the leaders in PR should have their heads examined if they think the government was wrong in arresting the troublemakers. These are people who want to create chaos to bring down the government and PR leaders are equally guilty of the same for organising the rallies.

Anwar has planned this long before the general election as his insurance in the event he loses the elections and unable to claim Putrajaya through the democratic process. Allegation of frauds had been made by him, PR and Bersih long before the general elections. He lost and frauds became the battle cry to bring down the government. Taking over the government by force of people's power would be the only option he has left.

Birds of a feather flock together, not at all surprising the restive and troublesome Anwar's ally Ambiga Sreenavasan came to the rescue, came out to defend the criminals.

She said of Najib's government " What national reconciliation ? To me, they only know how to use words that they do not even understand" Read here.

Of course, even the most stupid lawyer and there are many of them around who think they are the smartest people on earth would say the same, because she is a bullshit artist, as always, trying to bullshit the people.

How do you expect the government to start reconciliation when the oppositions led by the sore-loser Anwar Ibrahim, who had no intention of respecting the results of the elections and determined to create mischief by holding big rallies around the country to try topple the government.

Where is the smooth transition he talked about before the elections?

Najib should not fall for his treachery and trickery. A week ago he said he will be arrested and he is anxiously waiting to be arrested, which he anticipates will trigger the people's revolt against the government.

Let him be, let him continue with his big rallies, which will eventually fizzle out as people grew tired of its senselessness.

There are now ample Anwar's wannabes. Some even tried to emulate the way he talks, the way he walks and the way he straddles the horse.

Adam Adli, the raucous student arrested and charged for sedition is one of Anwar's great imitator. As they say "imitation is the sincerest form of flattery" Anwar should be proud of him.

Below are words deemed seditious uttered by Adam Adli.

Should the government just sit down and do nothing and allow this bunch of sore-losers to destabilise the nation, create political upheaval and allow the economy to suffer, which will eventually make us a pariah nation.

This country has rules of law and Ambiga as a lawyer knew it better than anyone else, but she like all the other lawless leaders in PR, decide, instead of going to the court to seek justice, they go to the streets to vent their anger. As a lawyer, she should know toppling a duly elected government is a treacherous act and a serious crime.

Go tell Anwar Ibrahim to stop his nonsense before you condemn Najib's promise of reconciliation.

It is absurd that you don't keep your end of the bargain and expect others to keep theirs.

The government should come down hard on these recusants and keep them away where they can do no harm to society and the nation.

The people have given their verdict and all parties should respect the results no matter how bitter the pill to swallow.

Here, Nurul Izzah Anwar said Najib's reforms a lie. The liar is actually her father.

"Will Najib agree to a smooth transition of power" her father asked before the elections and Najib promised he would do so here.

So, Nurul Izzah, who broke the solemn promise of smooth and peaceful transition of power. Your father, or Najib?

All those in the oppositions seem to have immunity against prosecution, because they have been blessed with God's given right to break the law, if one has to go by Ambiga's version of the law.

Amiga Sreenavasan, you may be a hero to some, but to me, you are full of shit.

Crave For Power, Anwar Lost The Plot

Hantu Laut

Gross miscalculation on Anwar's part. His narcissistic character and political grandstanding killed his chance of becoming the prime minister. The massive crowd in towns misled him into believing that taking the trophy will be a walk in the park. He lost sight of the fundamentals. He ignored the rustic rural communities where politicking are made easier by the smaller number of voters in each constituency.

Anwar beware! UMNO knew the game well. They will continue to win elections. The year 2018 will see a marked increase in support.

He and his Pakatan people can go on crying wolf, organise big rallies but nothing is going to change the fact that they have miscalculated and ignored the power of the rural voters.

These bunch of sore losers are now using allegation of frauds against BN to cover their biggest political clanger and again making the same mistake of using the same urban folks to try topple a duly elected government.

Tunku Aziz, formerly of DAP has rightly described Anwar as an anarchist and untrustworthy and warned the government to put a stop to his dangerous political charade.

This overconfident chameleonic politician has lost the plot and now resorting to public rallies to rattle, destabilise and hopefully overthrow the government with his streets culture. Aziz also advised Malaysians not to allow themselves be treated as cows by Pakatan Rakyat (PR).

Anwar boasted that by virtue of he and PR having gathered more popular votes, he should be in Putrajaya and should be the prime minister, not Najib and BN, the alleged cheaters.

PR won by a negligible 386,285 votes, but Anwar thinks it justifies a revolution to overthrow the government. This desperate man coaxed unwary Malaysians into believing that he and Pakatan were cheated by massive frauds perpetrated by Najib and BN. Most Malaysians and, surprisingly, the so-called sophisticated urban dwellers supposedly to be more intelligent and discerning turned out to be more dense than one would have expected. They fall for Anwar's ruse, hook, line and sinker.

This country parliamentary system does not recognise popular votes as the mechanism to determine the winner and Anwar knew this better than anyone that he had fooled to believe otherwise. His greed for power had driven him to the edge of madness and does not give a damn to the well being of the people and the nation.

The same system exists in U.K. and there have been instances where party with less popular votes become the government.

A referendum called on 5 May 2011 to replace the "first past the post" system  turned out to be a complete failure, 68% voted "NO" and preferred to keep the old system, only 32% voted "YES". Winning by virtue of an overall majority in the Commons continued to be the winning formula in Britain.

There are 650 parliamentary constituencies in U.K. Guess what? Who has the biggest slice of the cake?

England took the biggest slice with 533 constituencies, 59 in Scotland, 40 in Wales and 18 in Northern Ireland. So, the SOB English also gerrymander the constituencies in their favour. No wonder the Scots, Welsh and Irish are peeved with the English. However, the peeved Celts and Gaels organised no big rallies to complain of unfair parliamentary practices.

Trust the English for being fair, fair game is not in their lexicon, but based on population and land mass the English exercised their demographic and democratic rights that majority ruled the land.

In Malaysia, someone, out of intense and selfish desire to rule wants to change the rules of the game.

His name is Anwar Ibrahim!

Corruption's "Great White Shark"

Hantu Laut

Money the roots of all evil they say.

Corruption in government is the scourge that besieged many countries that can lead to failure of the delivery system and hampers progress and development, the building of basic services and essential infrastructure.

Can corruption makes a progressive country become regressive?

It can, depending on the degree and how widespread it is.

In some countries jobbery has become a way of life with politicians and high level officials actively and openly involved in corruptions.

You can't completely wipe out corruptions, at best even the best government can only help reduce it.

Human greed is something difficult to control, not only greed for money, greed for power is equally contemptuous.

The opposition Pakatan Rakyat had won the popular votes riding on the waves of its anti-corruption battle cry.

Is Malaysia really that corrupted?

Though, made to sound as evil and bad as could be by the opposition, corruptions in Malaysia are certainly not one of the worst in the world. We are no where near any of our neighbours, with the exception of the little dot south of the Peninsula. The squeaky clean city nation stood proudly tall in the corruption index, as clean as the Scandinavian countries.

Any form of corruption is bad and every government must adopt zero tolerance on corruption if it wants a progressive society.

The corruption  index by TI (Transparency International) of Asean countries is shown below.

Country                Ranking                 Score
____________________________________
Singapore                   4                           87
Malaysia                   54                           49
Thailand                   88                           37
Philippines              105                          34
Indonesia                118                           32
Vietnam                  123                           31
Burma                     172                           15

Depending who you asked and from which perspective one look at it. The answers can be astonishingly divergent.

Those in government and its supporters would not view it as corruption per se, but as part of the NEP to help the Malays/Bumiputras to raise their living standards and narrow the economic gap with the non-Malays.

All said and done, this argument do not hold much water anymore as the system have been abused to enrich those in power, their families and their cronies. It has left a legacy of institutionalised corruptions.

We are looking forward to Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak's transformation policy and his promise of reducing  corruptions in government.

Read the "Great White Shark" corruption in Indonesia of a low ranking official, who has racked in hundreds of million in ill gotten gains.

Asia Sentinel

Low-ranking official running what appears to be a massive illegal conglomerate

Indonesia is so used to corruption that the steady parade of crooked lawmakers, policemen, generals, lawyers and others through the offices of the Corruption Eradication Commission and into jail hardly evokes a yawn.

But Adjutant First Inspector Labora Stores, a seemingly low-ranking cop in Papua, has pretty much stopped the country in its tracks. The Papua Police revealed that the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center, the government's anti-money laundering watchdog, had identified transactions amounting to Rp1.5 trillion (US$154 million) passing through Labora's bank accounts from 2007 to 2012.

Given his position at the sixth-lowest rank on the force, Labora earns a monthly salary of Rp8.5 million (US$870), or did until he was arrested last Saturday. He claims his wife, brother-in-law and children run PT Rotua, a timber company, and PT Seno Aid Vijay, a mining and fuel company.

Brig. Gen. Arief Sulistyanto, the National Police director for special and economic crimes, told reporters police had been investigating Labora since mid-March after seizing a boat in Sorong, a West Papua coastal city, that was carrying 400,000 liters of government-subsidized diesel. Labora was later identified as the owner of the craft.

In addition to his suspected fuel smuggling operation, Labora's wood processing business appeared to be thriving, partly by allegedly selling rare woods into China. Senior Cmdr. Setyo Budi Setyanto, the Papua Police director for special crimes, told reporters the force was also investigating Labora's alleged ownership of 115 containers of timber now being held at Surabaya's Tanjung Perak port. Boycott The Chinese Are You Mad Or Stupid ?

Hantu Laut

About 20 Muslim/Malay NGOs have called for boycott of products made by Malaysian Chinese companies.

I am not sure whether these people understand the ramifications of such foolish undertaking. If they do, than they need their heads examine for cracks in the skull.

Don't they realise that over 90% of retail businesses are in the hands of the Chinese and they have complete control over supply of goods and services in the country. You really do not have much choice, you either buy from them, or starve to dead.

Hypothetically, if the Chinese closed all their shops for a week, the Malays would starve, as there are not enough Malay vendors in the distribution network and scale of supply that the Chinese have.

From toothpick, daily necessities to the heaviest machinery, you sure can't go without the Chinese connection along the supply chain.

They are the economic engines of this country and the sooner the Malays/Bumiputras accept this the better this country would be.

What they should do is try to be like the Chinese. Learn from their fortitude, diligent and resilience.

Well, I am not going to write a lengthy article on this subject as I am sure majority of my fellow Malaysians would agree it is mission impossible.

The Chinese are not the least bit worried, they knew they have the upper hand.

Live and let live.

Let's find a better solution to our political differences.

Tunku Aziz Beware: Karpal's DAP Official Secret Act Will Get You

Hantu Laut

Karpal Singh warned former DAP vice president Tunku Abdul Aziz to stop exposing party secrets.

Is DAP a secret society that they have too many secrets to hide and afraid of them being released into public domain? Do they have their own OSA (Official Secret Act), whereby the party can charge party members or former members for contravening the act?

How exactly is he going to take action against Tunku Aziz for telling the truth?

They talk about democracy, freedom of speech, freedom of the press, freedom to protest, freedom to demonstrate, freedom to tell lies and freedom to do anything they want. When it comes to where it hurts them, freedom flew out of the window.

Are they the untouchables, not of the Hindi lowest caste, but of the Mafioso type? You squealed, you are dead meat.

What a bunch of plaster saints. Hypocrisy of the highest order.

We Were Instinctively Green ! Are You ?

Hantu Laut

I don't know who the real author of this very discerning piece of the good old days when nothing was wasted and the planet not an environmental wasteland. It has appeared all over the Internet. It's kind of nostalgic, bringing back the good old days where nothing is thrown away, nothing is wasted.

Being green was never on the mind of those years of my generation because we were instinctively green, we saved, recycled and threw nothing away. We made our own kites, tops, toys and invented our own games. Those were days of ingenuity, making do with the little we have.

Some of you may have read this, but for those who have not happy reading and thanks the older generations for not killing the environment, not until some smart-asses invented the killing machines.

Today, you go to the supermarket they have what they called "no plastic day" but they would still give you one if you pay 20 cents, a miserable sum that most people don't mind to pay.A pathetic failure. Only the supermarkets benefited making extra profit.

The government should stop this bloody nonsense, it's no help to the environment. They should instead sell fabric or paper bag which cost much more, which will deter people from coming empty-handed to the supermarkets and to bring their own bags.

Being Green

Checking out at the store, the young cashier suggested to the older woman, that she should bring her own grocery bags because plastic bags weren’t good for the environment. The woman apologized and explained, “We didn’t have this green thing back in my earlier days.” The young clerk responded, “That’s our problem today. Your generation did not care enough to save our environment for future generations.”

She was right — our generation didn’t have the green thing in its day. Back then, we returned milk bottles, soda bottles and beer bottles to the store. The store sent them back to the plant to be washed and sterilized and refilled, so it could use the same bottles over and over. So they really were truely recycled. But we didn’t have the green thing back in our day.

Grocery stores bagged our groceries in brown paper bags, that we reused for numerous things, most memorable besides household garbage bags, was the use of brown paper bags as book covers for our schoolbooks. This was to ensure that public property, (the books provided for our use by the school) was not defaced by our scribblings. Then we were able to personalize our books on the brown paper bags. But too bad we didn’t do the green thing back then.

We walked up stairs, because we didn’t have an escalator in every store and office building. We walked to the grocery store and didn’t climb into a 300-horsepower machine every time we had to go two blocks. But she was right. We didn’t have the green thing in our day. Back then, we washed the baby’s diapers because we didn’t have the throwaway kind. We dried clothes on a line, not in an energy-gobbling machine burning up 220 volts — wind and solar power really did dry our clothes back in our early days. Kids got hand-me-down clothes from their brothers or sisters, not always brand-new clothing. But that young lady is right; we didn’t have the green thing back in our day.

Back then, we had one TV, or radio, in the house — not a TV in every room. And the TV had a small screen the size of a handkerchief (remember them?), not a screen the size of the state of Montana. In the kitchen, we blended and stirred by hand because we didn’t have electric machines to do everything for us. When we packaged a fragile item to send in the mail, we used wadded up old newspapers to cushion it, not Styrofoam or plastic bubble wrap. Back then, we didn’t fire up an engine and burn gasoline just to cut the lawn. We used a push mower that ran on human power. We exercised by working so we didn’t need to go to a health club to run on treadmills that operate on electricity. But she’s right; we didn’t have the green thing back then.

We drank from a fountain when we were thirsty instead of using a cup or a plastic bottle every time we had a drink of water. We refilled writing pens with ink instead of buying a new pen, and we replaced the razor blades in a razor instead of throwing away the whole razor just because the blade got dull. But we didn’t have the green thing back then.

Back then, people took the streetcar or a bus and kids rode their bikes to school or walked instead of turning their moms into a 24-hour taxi service. We had one electrical outlet in a room, not an entire bank of sockets to power a dozen appliances. And we didn’t need a computerized gadget to receive a signal beamed from satellites 23,000 miles out in space in order to find the nearest burger joint. But isn’t it sad the current generation laments how wasteful we old folks were just because we didn’t have the green thing back then?

Please forward this on to another selfish old person who needs a lesson in conservation from a smartass young person.

Political Hotchpotch

Hantu Laut

The Dayaks are not happy with P.M Najib's oversight, miscalculation, or calculated move. They want more ministers. Najib "kepala pusing" banyak orang "kepala besar"

Karpal says abolish senate, he wants to kill our bicameral system. Maybe, he is right. Can save a lot of money by not paying the no work senators. Their salaries and perks must be running into millions each year for doing nothing.

Anwar Ibrahim says he is going to be arrested soon. Looks like he is stirring the hornet's nest, hoping there'll be an uprising if he is arrested, because he is so loved by the people. We must throw the BN government out he said. He is looking forward to be arrested so his dream of a Malaysian Spring will materialise. I say it won't happen, like rats abandoning a sinking ship.

Pakatan Rakyat Sabah will form a shadow cabinet to monitor Sabah government performance said political chapman Lajim Bin Ukin. When the money ran out, don't rule out this man returing to UMNO. One lost Pakatan candidate, former UMNO man who ditched the party at the eleventh hour to join PR is knocking on Musa Aman's door, saying he was misled.

P.Warthamooty, Najib's magicked minister described his appointment as "historic opportunity to change the fortunes of the Indian community". Let's hope he is not like Samy Velu, who changed the Indian fortunes and kept all for himself.

Getting a little tired of politics, let's enjoy the beauty of Sabah.

Najib's Survival Cabinet

Asia Sentinel

Malaysian PM turns to old foe's allies for help
Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak has appointed what amounts to a survival cabinet, turning to allies of former foe Abdullah Ahmad Badawi to fend off intra-party challenges in the wake of the May 5 election, in which the opposition actually won the popular vote but was thwarted from taking power by gerrymandered constituencies.

Some of the appointments represent a sharp about-turn by Najib from the policies of former Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad and the deputy prime minister, Muhyiddin Yassin, whom an outraged Mahathir is said to be attempting to goad into trying to push out Najib immediately as prime minister and head of the United Malays National Organization instead of waiting until the October party Annual General Assembly. Although the opposition has pointed to the appointments of Shahidan Kassim and Umno secretary-general Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor as indications of Mahathir's clout, the opposite seems to be true.Read more.

Zahid "It is better to keep your mouth shut than open it and remove all doubt"

Hantu Laut

Before he even started, they already gave him headache.

Wow! What a way towards mending and winning the people's hearts and minds.

Reconciliation, the Prime Minister talking about repairing the severe lost of confidence of his government by urban voters and the Chinese community, seemingly, a voice in the wilderness, his ministers have their own ideas how to please the people, or rather how to undermine him.

If you think the low magnitude Hishamuddin Onn was bad enough and everyone rejoiced of his exit from the Home Ministry, we may now conclude that the Ministry is jinxed,  to be driven by another  insensitive, impervious, smarmy and blundering minister.

In less than two days of taking office this nutty as a fruitcake minister tell Malaysians to leave the country if they don't like the system. He has another 1,822 days to go. Let's hope he gets off his high horse.

Zahid Hamidi, the new Home Minister had a glorious day insulting his countrymen to leave the country if they don't like the parliamentary system here.

Anwar's belligerency should be dealt with by the law, not by lambasting the people.

As citizens of this country we have constitutional rights to question the system, but at the end of the day the majority shall prevail. Ministers do not have God's given right to tell us to leave the country if we disagree with them.

"It is better to keep your mouth shut and let people think you are a fool than open it and remove all doubt" ...Mark Twain.

Haa! Mark Twain, had two of his books as literature in schools, Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn.

Always ponder before you open your big mouth.

No thanks to Najib for choosing this noisome and bumptious minister.

Cry Baby !

Hantu Laut

I am pretty sure Obama has been briefed by his diplomatic mission and intelligence services on the results of the 13th Malaysian General Election.

The U.S President is fully aware of the working of our parlimentary system and with the exception of free access to the media raised by the White House, the President have not raised any triable issue.

Anwar is now implying that the U.S State Department of gross incompetence by not telling the President according to his perception of what occurred during the 13th GE that they have won the popular votes yet could not form the government because of massive cheating by BN to retain the government.

Below is an example of the same parliamentary system used in the U.K.

The 2005 U.K.Elections gave Labour only 36.1% of the total votes and they managed to form the government on their own, against the total oppositions votes of 64.%

Seats
This table indicates those parties with over one seat, Great Britain only
Seats %Votes %Votes
Labour Party35556.536.19,552,436
Conservative Party19831.533.28,782,192
Liberal Democrats629.922.65,985,454
Scottish National Party61.01.6412,267
Plaid Cymru30.50.7174,838
Others40.65.71,523,716
628

26,430,908

The Labour Party only had 36.1% of the total votes but 56.5% of the total seats. The Conservative and all other parties put together had 63.9% of the votes but only 43.5% of the seats.

Even if all the opposition parties joined forces, they still do not have enough seats to form the government.

No one in the opposition complained that the UK electoral roll is dirty or the system is fucked up.The losers took it in their stride.

Anwar Running To Obama For Help.

Hantu Laut

Is Obama our keeper? Why is Anwar seeking out the U.S. to save him, or help him takeover the government? Aren't we a sovereign nation?

Watch the video.

I believe, if there have been massive cheating the CIA would have briefed President Obama.

Making a fool of himself.

Hahaha! Banglasia!

BN Is Dead, UMNO Strong As Ever

Hantu Laut

What I have said all along, you want to win the general elections in this country take care of the kampongs. Our "first past the post" system only recognises majority of seats, not majority of popular votes.

Don't let Anwar Ibrahim fool you that they have won.Any intelligent person knew Pakatan Rakyat did not win this elections. Having more popular votes does not guarantee a win, it is a fallacy and a lie perpetuated by Anwar to grab power illegitimately.

Anwar knew Malaysians are easily coaxed as most do not understand the parliamentary system in this country.

The results of the 13th GE decimated BN, but UMNO had stayed popular with rural Malays, collecting more seats this time around. UMNO won 88 MP seats compared to 80 in 2008.

The Singapore Straits Time published an insightful and profound analysis of the results of the elections on the same note that I have said all along.

Read on:

Today after 56 years of independence, Umno still controls the rural Malay mind. Yes, it is true Umno has lost control over large sections of the Malay community in urban areas. Under Malaysia's electoral system, it is the rural seats that decide the federal government, not urban seats. Urban seats account for less than a quarter of Malaysia's 222 parliamentary seats while about 150 seats are Malay/bumiputera majority seats.
Umno is unlikely to reform in time for the 14th GE, and does not need to. As long as the first- past-the-post system continues to allot disproportionate weight to rural voters, all Umno has to do is to keep the fire of Ketuanan Melayu and Ketuanan Islam burning brightly in rural Malaysia.

Is Haris Ibrahim Ready For Jihad Or Gone Bonkers ?

Hantu Laut

This is it, my biggest fear of CIVIL UNREST.

Read here how a group of people contemplating to overthrow the government by force.

Waiting for five years is too long they say, they want immediate turmoil to remove the government.

Leader of the pact is the disenchanted and disheveled Haris Ibrahim, who had earlier announced his "willing to die" squad to uphold the voting system in the country. Sounds like he has scores of suicide bombers ready for "jihad"

I wrote this piece "Is Malaysia Heading For Trouble" a day before polling day, not a figment of my imagination as the idealists would want to believe and have accused me of spreading fear to scare friends, foes, all and sundry, but it is reality that could turn into nightmare.

Well, enemies, I have none, unless some who knows me consider me as one. Friends I have plenty, but close friends I keep in a small circle and close to my heart.

A dear friend of mine was pretty annoyed when I posted  on her timeline on Facebook of what I see as impending trouble if Anwar doesn't stop his calls for big rally to protest against the government  and that there would be blood on the streets if he is not stopped now. Of good heart herself, she truly believe Malaysians are incapable of violence. Well, Haris Ibrahim had proven her wrong.

Haris Ibrahim praises to the skies demonstrations and civil unrest as the only way to bring down the government.

My balls rattling so nervously listening to what he had said " We will take to the streets to take over Putrajaya. If we rally want to overthrow them, there is no other way.Democracy doesn't work"

Yes, democracy doesn't work for people who refused to accept it.

Why would Anwar want to continue holding big rallies when he knew fully well it'll be an effort in futility. He knew fully well he can't change the government by holding peaceful rallies all over the country.

As I have said before, huge rallies can't remain peaceful forever, it only take a single spark to ignite the whole minefield of discontent.

Haris Ibrahim extolled going to the streets as the only way to remove the government. His ABU movement has elements of right wing fascism and ready to wreak havoc in the country.

This delusional man, if left to his own devices, will light the tinder box.

Boom! Malaysia goes up in flame.

Now you know why Raja Petra (RPK) parted company with him.

I am not going to tell the police what to do, they knew better what to do when someone had gone overboard.

This A Good One........! The Pakatan's Craps !

Hantu Laut

This a good one......narrative of the Pakatan's craps!

In the midst of a busy day in Kuala Lumpur, a few years back, a jam-packed traffic cruising slowly and patiently on a busy metropolitan road was startled by the cacophonous din of a hospital ambulance siren coming from behind them. The emergency lights were flashing, and all cars were inching slowly to give way to the hospital-emergency vehicle to move. All except one, that is. One lone Chinese driver was suspicious of the ambulance’s “motives” and surmised that this is nothing more than the camaraderie of a (mostly-Malay) ambulance operator who was in a hurry to get back home or whose bladder was in a pressing situation, and was merely using (or abusing) his position to beat the traffic.

Pakatan Rakyat Has Only 36 Malay/Muslim MPs

Hantu Laut

We can argue till kingdom come, no amount of rabble rousing will ever change the truth. Anwar can carry on with his political rally everyday if he wishes to, but the fact remained he has lost the real Malay supports.

Pakatan Rakayat would be in real dilemma if they had won the elections. It would be a minority government even if Anwar was made prime minister.

I am talking about Pakatan as a whole, not the component party individually.

Of the 89 parliamentary seats they won only 36 can be attributed to Malay/Muslims supports........... 53 are non-Malay/Muslim seats

PKR won 30 seats, but 15 of these seats are won by non-Malay/Muslim candidates. Therefore, PKR 15 + PAS 21 = 36 seats............. and DAP 38 + PKR 15 = 53 seats. The non-Malay/Muslim has much bigger representation. The figure did not include 2 Muslim seats in DAP.

How some political analysts regarded it as Malaysian tsunami is beyond comprehension. There are two pendulums here, the Chinese pendulum swung to the left and the Malay pendulum swung to the right, along the political spectrum.

Only urban Malays voted PKR and majority of votes came from non-Malay voters to ensure PR victory, but unfortunately majority of Malay voters got cold feet when they realised the massive non-Malay swing toward PR, particularly to DAP.

Anwar Ibrahim can screamed fraud all he wants, nothing will change the fact that he lost the elections of his own gross misjudgement. He took for granted that the Malays will vote for him en masse.
